Golden Globe Awards telah resmi digelar pada 8 Januari 2024. Dalam gelaran Golden Globes 2024 ini, film Oppenheimer berhasil mendominasi dengan membawa pulang lima piala. Sementara itu, dari kategori serial ada Successionyang sukses membawa pulang total empat piala.
Cillian Murphy berhasil membawa pulang piala Golden Globes pertama lewat perannya sebagai J. Robert Oppenheimer di film Oppenheimer (2023) lewat kategori “Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama”. Begitu juga dengan Christopher Nolan yang meraih piala Golden Globes pertamanya sebagai “Best Director” atau “Sutradara Terbaik” berkat film Oppenheimer.
Sementara itu, film Barbie yang sebelumnya berhasil mendominasi daftar nominasi Golden Globes 2024 hanya membawa pulang 2 piala dari 9 nominasi yang ada. Namun, film yang dibintangi oleh oleh Margot Robbie tersebut berhasil memenangkan kategori baru, yaitu “Cinematic and Box Office Achievement” yang diberikan untuk film paling terkenal, berpenghasilan tertinggi, dan/atau paling banyak ditonton yang telah mendapatkan dukungan penonton global yang luas dan mencapai keunggulan sinematik.
