Malam ini, Academy Awards resmi mengumumkan daftar nomine dari seluruh kategori yang dipertandingkan. Gelaran Piala Oscar yang sudah memasuki tahun ke-91 ini merupakan ajang tahunan yang memberikan apresiasi tertinggi kepada insan perfilman paling mengesankan sepanjang 2018.
Dipandu oleh Kumail Nanjiani (The Twilight Zone) dan Tracee Ellis Ross (Portlandia), malam pengumuman nominasi untuk Piala Oscar 2019 resmi dibuka.
Enggak jauh berbeda dengan ajang Golden Globe 2019 lalu, Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born), Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), dan Willem Dafoe (At Eternity’s Gate) kembali menjadi nomine untuk kategori “Best Actor”. Dua kandidat lainnya jatuh kepada Christian Bale (Vice) dan Viggo Mortensen (Green Book)
Untuk kategori “Best Actress”, tiga nomine pada Golden Globe lalu kembali bertarung di Piala Oscar 2019. Mereka adalah Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born), Glenn Close (The Wife), dan Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?). Yalitza Aparicio (Roma) dan Olivia Colman (The Favourite) adalah dua kandidat lainnya pada nominasi ini.
Roma berhasil mendominasi pada gelaran Oscar 2019. Dipuji berkat cerita menyentuh, desain produksi, akting brilian, serta aspek visual yang memesona, film besutan Alfonso Cuarón ini akan bertarung dalam memperebutkan 10 Piala Oscar pada 24 Februari nanti, termasuk untuk kategori “Best Picture”
