Siapa yang dulu pernah menonton film Borat (2006)? 14 tahun setelah film tersebut dirilis, Borat akhirnya kembali lagi di film sekuelnya yang diberi judul Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (2020). Enggak lama setelah perilisannya, film komedi ini langsung berhasil mendapatkan tiga nominasi Golden Globe 2021, di antaranya “Best Musical or Comedy”, “Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy”, dan “Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy”.
Setelah merilis daftar nominasi pada awal Februari lalu, malam puncak Golden Globe 2021 akhirnya digelar pada 28 Februari 2021. Borat Subsequent Moviefilm ternyata berhasil menyabet dua penghargaan dari tiga nominasi yang telah mereka dapatkan.
Selain Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, film lainnya yang berjaya di Golden Globe 2021 adalah Nomadland (2020). Film tersebut juga berhasil mendapatkan dua penghargaan seperti sekuelnya Borat. Menariknya lagi, beberapa film yang sempat dijagokan menang malah sama sekali enggak berhasil mendapatkan penghargaan, salah satunya adalah Mank (2020).
